Oyeyemi's The Path of the Lamb Oyeyemi's The Path of the Lamb

By FOLAKE OLAGUNJU

Humility as they say is one of the greatest virtues a man could possibly possess. It places him higher than other people and above every situation. But we often wonder how we can remain completely humble in spite of everything we go through in life. Moses Sunday Oyeyemi, an educationist and an ordained pastor in the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Worldwide, seeks to help satisfy this curiosity in his book, The Path of the Lamb, the Way to True Glory.

The book reveals that, to become successful in life, a believer must be absolutely humble, meek, gentle and totally obedient to God. Various Bible passages were also explored to help readers discover the benefits of being humble.

Oyeyemi, in the book, cites Jesus as an example of great humility and total obedience. According to him, the lordship of Jesus came as a result of his humility. He, Jesus, surrendered himself to be punished for an offence he did not commit, descended to the place of death so as to rescue human race and at the end, became victorious. The author also states the path of the lamb as obedience, suffering, constant worship, holiness, dying and love. To follow these paths, every follower of the lamb must understand what it takes, the author advises.

Divided into seven chapters, the 49-page book examines the concept of humility, breaking it into understandable and easy-to-read parts. Leaders of the church are also not left out, as the book teaches them not to get carried away by their preaching prowess, their ability to perform miracles and the big names they are accorded such as pastors, elders, deacons, apostles and so on. He urges them not to intimidate or manipulate people because of their positions, as good leaders must have been good followers at one time or the other.

Oyeyemi also talks about the struggle for power and prominence in today’s church. He stated that there is a lot of strife, pride and hatred in the churches nowadays. Instead of fighting against the devil, ministers are waging unending wars against themselves while churches are being closed down on a daily basis, as they have become objects of ridicule to unbelievers.

The Path of the Lamb, the Way to True Glory, is a book that exudes knowledge on every page. The author shows his vast knowledge in the word of God. It is a good read for Christians who wish to know more about humility and choose the way of Lambship that leads to true glory, riches, honour and greatness. The book teaches readers to be humble and patient and see every hardship that comes as an opportunity to move higher and be wiser in the things of God. The author urges readers to worship God constantly as we go through the dark periods of our lives.
