Benefits of Early Morning Sex
For many couples, a spot of early lovemaking is perhaps the last thing on their mind as the whole family rushes to get dressed and leave for school or work in the morning. However, recent scientific research shows that early morning sex can work wonders for a relationship, not to mention grant health benefits for both partners as they indulge in a little steamy action before getting out of bed. Here are some great reasons to tempt partner into early morning sex. For instance, morning is the time when you are full of energy. After having a good night sleep of at least seven to eight hours, your body and mind are well rested and consequently you…

Enters the Wonder Condom
It used to be a handy tool against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted illnesses, including HIV. The snag however is that pressure could make the condom burst, spilling semen and, along with it, all the barrage of sexual infections. But that may now be a thing of the past. A recent study conducted at the University of Washington, United States, shows that this challenge appears to have been eliminated. Researchers from the institution have just announced the discovery of a female condom that can dissolve on its own and also spit venom on semen that contains HIV. Indeed, the condom is unlike what we have seen around. It was developed from very tiny microfibres and woven…
In spite of efforts from government at all levels, investigation shows there is a remarkable gap between the basic immunisation required and what is available to the average Nigerian child in public hospitals By CHINEYE ESEKE She is 35 years old, barely survives at the lowest rung of the economic ladder and has five children. But that is not the news. The news is that none of Eucharia Omoruze’s five kids has completed the basic immunisation routine prescribed by the Federal Ministry of Health. Each time she wants to have a child, she takes a 50-kilometre trip from Zuba on the outskirts of Abuja to Asokoro General Hospital where she had chosen to give birth…
Prevention, they say, is better than cure. But how many people truly follow this simple philosophy of life, especially in Nigeria, when it comes to healthy eating? When you walk through some local food canteens in your neighbourhood, watch the amount of food you find on that vulcaniser’s plate. Perhaps, he is even ordering for another plate of rice when his bulging stomach is crying enough. His belief is simple: “It’s better to have a decent eat than to eat junks that would not fill you to satisfaction.” True but not right, because consistent intake of too much food may result in indigestion otherwise known as constipation. And it doesn’t end there. Health experts have discovered that…

Britain, Germany Home to Oldest Mothers in the World
British women are delaying motherhood for longer than those anywhere else in the world, figures have revealed. The average age at which a woman in the United Kingdom, UK, starts a family has hit 30 – an increase of almost two years since 1995. But experts have warned that the growing trend for late motherhood could be putting the health of babies at risk. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK, said that women who waited longer to give birth needed to be informed of the potential problems, such as the risk of Down’s syndrome and complications during delivery. Figures from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, show that the UK and Germany are…

Research Links Smacking to Cancer
Smacking your children may raise their risk of developing cancer, heart disease and asthma, say scientists. British psychologists studied 700 adults aged between 40 and 60 in Saudi Arabia, where beating is considered an acceptable aspect of parenting. They found that those who suffered corporal punishment as children had higher rates of serious disease later in life. People who had cancer were 1.7 times more likely to have been beaten than healthy individuals, according to the study published in the Journal of Behavioural Medicine. The research concluded that smacking in childhood increased the chances of heart disease 1.3 times and asthma 1.6 times. Professor Michael Hyland, who led the study, said: “Early life stress in the form of…
